The Master, on an occasion, was illuminating us on ‘Venu Geetham’ – Lord Krishna’s mellifluous call to the inhabitants of Brindavan, and the Gopis’ response to it. He said, as the Gopis were amidst their daily chores, at the nectarine hum of The Lord’s flute, they instantaneously dropped all that they were doing, and ran to Him.

The Master said, “This teaches us two things. When there is a call from The Divine, DO NOT DELAY!”

Secondly, The Master asked, “Why is it that only the Gopis chose to run towards this call? Why didn’t the other members of their household respond?” One of us replied, “The others did not hear it.” The Master smiled and enlightened us, “The others heard too. But to them, it didn’t seem like a call from the Divine, it was rather a mere noise. The ‘chemistry’ worked only with the ones who had a longing for His Love.”

Those were such scintillating words from The Master!

So true! Whether our life is ordinary or enchanting, solely depends on whether we wholeheartedly respond to The Call from the Divine. Sometimes we are so full of ourselves and our association with this world, that we ignore The Call. We have just one option; to run towards the call, or not; and that decides the whole enchilada.

When The Divine calls, we must spontaneously go in its direction, with utmost dedication and readiness, sans reluctance and deviousness. The Divine Call that we hear in this world, is from The Master. Only when our entire being is geared up and yearning to experience His Grace, does the ‘chemistry’ work. Only when there is longing, we relish attainment. For one who is dying of thirst, water is elixir. For one who is not thirsty, getting water is irrelevant.

The Divine Call is impartial and unprejudiced. It gives out compassion to the entire existence. But the taker is not present. We fail to respond instantly to that call, and postpone our response because of our delusion that we are going to forego some worldly gratification.

There are almost eight billion people on earth. Not even near 0.5% of the population are able to hear the Call from The Master, leave alone respond to it. Once heard, and ignored, we never know if there would be an opportunity again. Even if our desire is deep, and we happen to hear it again, we never know our circumstances in that instance.

When The Call is here, and we can hear Him, and we are at a point of even the slightest understanding of its significance and opulence, although incapable of comprehending it in its entirety, let’s run towards it. We may never hear it again, or at least not in the reasonably near future.

In the hustle of this worldly life, we may miss the alarm, or end up snoozing it, and continue in our deep slumber. It’s time to run out to His Call, and walk IN THE PATH OF UNCONDITIONAL, BLISSFUL LOVE.
